Belmont Park's National Night Out event was a huge success!

Thanks to Gabe Lopez and his family, approximately 400 grilled hot dogs were prepared and served nice and hot with choice of chips and a cold bottle of water.  Many neighbors came out to support the event; and mixed and mingled.

Included in the event was: Free blood pressure checks, a brochure informational table, a childrens activity table, a DJ (DJ Rob) and a representative from Towne Mortgage. Various sponsors donated  so that a raffle was held which included: four $25.00 gift cards, (one for Buffalo Wild Wings, two for Taylor's Do It and one for Walgreens). There were two certificates for a years worth of free haircuts from Supercuts located in the Farm Fresh shopping center. Also, there was a complete home security system including installation donated by John's Brothers Security. Mr. Hwang donated two free Tae Kwon Do sessions for families at his Bridge Road studio.

The Suffolk News Herald sent their reporter, Matthew Ward, to the event. The President of the Board, Shawn Felts, was interviewed. Her quotes were included in his article about Suffolk's NNO event.  You can read the article at this link: http://www.suffolknewsherald.com/2014/08/05/night-out-celebrated-2/. (copy and paste the link into your browser.) As the event progressed, Suffolk's motorcade came through to judge Belmont's set up. (No word yet on the winner). Councilman, Fawcett and his lovely wife stopped by and shook hands with many of the attendees.

An official thank you have been sent out to all of our sponsors:

Sentara Now Care, Suffolk Police Dept., SuperCuts, Johns Brothers Security, Master Hwang's World Class Tae Kwon Do, and  New Towne Mortgage.

We also want to thank all of the volunteers who helped to make the event such a success: Tripp Felts, Olga, Gabby and Gilbert Lopez, Iris McAllister, Wisdom Diaz, Ayvion Hines, Robert Broadwater, Alicia Hines, the Williams grandchildren, Tamara, Patty and of course Vernon, thank you for providing the ice. If anyone has been left off please send an email to have your name or name correction added to the list.
